About IWA

Following his tenure as the District of Columbia’s Chief Health Officer (CHO) and Department of Health (DOH) Director, Ivan C.A. Walks, MD established Ivan Walks & Associates, LLC (IWA) as a single-entity health policy and disaster preparedness consulting firm.

That was back in 2002.

Since then, IWA has expanded to include a multi-disciplinary professional staff of healthcare clinicians, behavioral health specialists, social scientists, public safety experts, and technologists.  Our engagements have ranged from public health strategic planning efforts to community outreach and cultural competency training and the definition of health information technology (HIT) requirements.  Most recently, we have provided military psychological health program support, conducted H1N1-related health communications and marketing activities, and assessed government capacities to respond to public health emergencies.  Over the past few years, our body of work, client list, and reputation for exemplary performance has dramatically driven IWA’s growth as both a company and brand.

We are a credible and highly competent minority- and Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) that is certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration as an 8(a) program participant through June 2013.  Our people are recognized as among the best in their respective fields.  And we are focused on powering innovation to enhance public health and homeland security with technology as an enabler only where — and when — it makes the most sense.

IWA offers consultative support that is both deep and broad like few others.  Our mission is to understand the unique challenges our clients face, and then combine traditional and new-millennium methodologies with “out of the box thinking” to deliver solutions that are clear and measureable.

Collaborate with us and see the tangible results.
